Frequently asked questions
Answers about coverage, installation, technical set-up and billing.
General
What is Kayanat Technology?
Kayanat is a national ISP licensed by the Ministry of Communications since 2009, providing fixed wireless, microwave and VSAT internet services across Afghanistan.
Which areas do you cover?
Our terrestrial network covers all 34 provinces through the national backbone, and VSAT service can reach any location with a clear view of the sky. See the coverage page.
How long does installation take?
In covered urban areas, typically 2–5 working days after a free site survey. Remote VSAT installs are scheduled with our field teams and are usually completed within two weeks.
Technical
What equipment is installed at my site?
A radio / CPE unit and a small antenna (or a VSAT dish for remote sites), plus a Wi-Fi Plus router for indoor coverage. All outdoor equipment is rated for Afghan climate conditions.
My connection is slow. What should I check first?
Restart the CPE and the router, run a speed test at speed.measurementlab.net while connected by cable, and check the traffic graphs for your link. If the problem stays, the NOC is available 24/7.
How can I test my real internet speed?
We recommend the M-LAB speed test at speed.measurementlab.net for an independent measurement, and our probe system in the NMS portal for line-level statistics.
Do you offer static IP addresses?
Yes. Static IPv4 addresses are included in Business plans and available as an add-on for enterprise and government circuits. Larger blocks are available through IP Lease.
What is the difference between DPLC and IPLC?
DPLC is a domestic private leased circuit within Afghanistan. IPLC is an international private leased circuit connecting your Afghan sites to the world through our upstream partners.
Billing
How do I pay my invoice?
Through the customer portal, at our Kabul office, or through supported mobile money channels. Customer care can walk you through the options.
What happens if my payment is late?
Service may be suspended after the grace period shown on your invoice. Reconnection is automatic once the balance is settled. Contact support if you need an extension.
Can I upgrade my plan later?
Yes. Upgrades within the wireless network are usually applied the same day; capacity upgrades on dedicated circuits are scheduled with your account manager.
Where can I see my usage and graphs?
Sign in to the customer portal for invoices and usage, and to our Cacti graph server for live traffic graphs of your connection.
